Group Exhibition
A single work, One Nutritional Meal (acrylic on canvas, 16 × 20 inches), was presented as part of Plateforms, an exhibition exploring the plate as both object and site of interaction.
Positioned within the familiar language of consumption, the work depicts a dinner setting reduced to a quiet contradiction: a plate and cutlery offering only a packet of “light” cigarettes. Borrowing the visual codes of nutritional assurance—specifically the green emblem associated with “one of your five a day”—the piece unsettles the authority of what is presented as healthy, truthful, or safe.
Rooted in the historical framing of cigarettes as beneficial, One Nutritional Meal operates as a restrained but pointed gesture. It reflects on systems of persuasion, the aesthetics of compliance, and the uneasy trust placed in institutional narratives.
The work forms part of the ongoing series Packaged Temptation, which examines cycles of addiction, desire, and the packaging of both.
Described as an “authentic pop art creation” and “deeply sarcastic,” the piece was met with notably positive audience response during the exhibition.
